1. Contrasting colour tile feature

One of the most simple and effective ways to create a feature wall is with a contrasting tile. Any colour may be chosen though, is particularly effective when using the same tile that was chosen for the floor. Tiling three walls to ceiling height in a white tile and then tiling a single wall in the same tile that is laid on the floor creates not only a simple yet stunning feature, it literally draws the eye upward from the floor upward to the ceiling adding depth, height and character.

2. Herringbone tile feature

Intricate tiling patterns have exuded luxury all the way throughout the history of interior design, and there is no other that makes a statement quite like herringbone patterned tiles. The herringbone pattern is an arrangement of rectangular tiles named for its resemblance to the bones of a fish such as herring. Forever timeless, the herringbone pattern may be created with any colour tile that suits your bathroom design. The advantage of this particular tiling pattern, is that it does not require a contrasting colour to be effective. In fact, even white on white is effective allowing the pattern itself to become the feature. Marble herringbone tiles are extremely popular oozing opulence with their veining within the pattern.

3. Fish scale mosaics

Known also as scallop tiles, fish scale tiles have re-emerged into the limelight. Their gentle curves blend together to create a flowing pattern that soften harsh edges that are usually found in the bathroom. These mosaics are available in a variety of hues from soft and subtle right through to bold and striking.

4. Patterned tile feature

Rather than using a tiling pattern to create a feature with individual tiles or mosaics, patterned tiles have their design printed upon them. Available in a great variety of styles from retro vintage through to Moroccan infused eclectic boho, there is a patterned tile to suit all bathroom designs to create a gorgeous feature wall.

5. Textured tile feature

A feature wall need not be created with colour or pattern. Texture alone provides a beautiful feature and works especially well in bathrooms that have limited space. This allows for the walls to remain white, reflecting more light and have a single wall tiled with a white textured tile for character. Perfect for small bathrooms, ensuites and powder rooms.
