For many years the stone of preference in kitchens has been granite and marble, however, recently more and more people are turning to quartz (engineered stone) for their kitchens, and for very good reason. Here’s why:

Quartz is one of the hardest minerals found on the earth. This engineered stone is made from 93% natural quartz aggregates, pigment and polymer resin.

It is stronger than natural stone. The resins and polymers used during manufacture create strong bonds, ranking it higher on the hardness scale and more resistant to damage. It is extremely durable, scratch resistant and won’t chip or crack over time. Being engineered, it has none of the natural “flaws” that can be found in granite.

Options for design and colour are almost endless. Many new designs are made to resemble marble and granite patterns giving it a “natural” appearance making it the perfect choice for any kitchen style, whether it be traditional or contemporary.

Quartz is a non-porous material therefore its texture does not allow bacteria to grow and resists against stains from oil, red wine, coffee and food colouring etc.

Seams between slabs are much less noticeable than with natural stone, giving a more streamlined finish.

It is low maintenance. Unlike natural stone benchtops that require annual sealing, quartz does not require any sealing at all, not ever.

It is extremely easy to clean, requiring only a little soapy water to wipe away mess. No special cleaners required.

Quartz does not carry the same price tag as natural stone leaving more money in the budget for cabinets and appliances.

Quartz can also be used in the bathroom for your vanity countertop. It’s non-porous qualities and design variations make it perfect for any style bathroom.
