Choosing your Cabinet Finish – Polyurethane Kitchens

Polyurethane is considered the top tier of cabinet finishes. It is a two part paint mixture of resin and hardener, similar to that of automotive paint used on cars. It is sprayed onto melamine covered moisture resistant, medium density fibre board (MDF) on doors, drawer faces and panels.
Polyurethane is a hard, scratch resistant and highly durable paint finish that suits any kitchen style whether it be a contemporary or traditional design.
Polyurethane offers an unlimited palette of colours and can be colour matched to your walls or other decor.
It is available in a variety of finishes including matt, satin, semi gloss or high gloss.
Cabinet doors may be profile routered, they do not need to have a flat or plain face, so no matter the cabinet door style you choose, a polyurethane finish may be used.
No edging tape is required around doors or drawers as with laminate. Edge joints are not visible as the paint is sprayed over the edge from the face.
There is no risk of peeling as there is with laminate and vacuumed sealed finishes.

Polyurethane is easy to clean. Using a damp micro fibre cloth is all that is needed, providing a low maintenance finish.
